Nubble Trail and Nubble Light
This picturesque lighthouse is an icon for the Maine coast, it was established in 1879. Free parking is available at Sohier Park with an excellent view of the lighthouse. The lighthouse and grounds are not open to the public.

Fort McClary
The site of the fort has been occupied since 1689 as an important military defensive position. The area at one time was called “Battery Pasture” and was acquired by William Pepperrell, a merchant and landowner. The first structures were probably no more than simple earthworks and a small block house known as Pepperrell’s Garrison or Fort Pepperrell.

Through its restored houses, its featured exhibits, its historic landscapes and gardens, and its interpretive programs, Strawbery Banke tells the stories of the many generations who settled in the Portsmouth, NH, community from the late l7th to the mid-20th century.
