Portsmouth, founded in 1630, is the region’s economic center and a tourist attraction whose densely-built downtown retains many of the classic brick buildings from the early 1800s. Today thedowntown offers exceptional opportunities for dining, shopping, and entertainment.

Directions:
1.Take Exit 7 from Interstate 95.
2.Turn east toward the ocean on Market Street. Downtown Portsmouth is one mile. (At the fork, the Sheraton Portsmouth, stay to the left.)
3.Click here for parking options. (For the main parking garage, the High-Hanover Garage, turn right at Hanover Street.)
Parking:
Parking in downtown Portsmouth is 75 cents per hour in both the public parking garage and at metered spaces on the street.
Metered spaces are free after 7 p.m. and before 9 a.m. and all-day Sunday. The parking garage is located within walking distance of all downtown attractions.
Free parking is available a short walk from downtown. Trolley rides are available downtown for 50 cents. Parking Clerk’s office is located at City Hall, 1 Junkins Ave., (603) 610-7229.
